DAY 5: Opposed, Yet Undeterred!

Read: Acts 5:1-42

Think: The disciple’s boldness about Jesus was uncontainable. Their strength was that they had been eye-witnesses of Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection. They knew the truth. They knew the power of God because they knew Jesus. His life, death, and resurrection was real and they could not stop talking about what He had done for them and for all who believed in Him. They were passionate and undeterred, even by violent opposition. They had a compelling message to share with the world.

Act: Not everyone is comfortable talking to others about Jesus. One way to become more comfortable is to develop a few questions or discussion-starters that can ease you into talking about Him with others. Today, brainstorm at least one question that you could ask a stranger and one question you could ask a friend that could begin a conversation with them about God. (Examples include: “Are you at all interested in spiritual things?” or “Is there anything specific I can about for you?”)

Pray: Dear Jesus, give me a sincere interest in talking with strangers, friends. or family members who need You. Help me get over the fear of rejection or even opposition that might occur. Help me to pray diligently for opportunities to share with ________________________ (a neighbor, co-worker, or family member). Amen.

DAY 4: They’ve Been With Jesus!

Read: Acts 4:1-37

Think: Acts 4:13 reads, “The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.” Identify at least one thing from Acts 4 that you think might have caused people to recognize the disciples had been with Jesus.

Act: Identify one thing you could do today that might cause others to say, “I can just tell that he/she has been with Jesus! It must be why he/she is so full of passion for the Word, so full of power in prayer, and so bold in his/her faith and ability to share the Gospel!”

Pray: Dear Jesus, I want to be known as someone who has BEEN with You, someone who knows You so well that others see You in me. I ask you to give me a deep passion for Your Word. Help me to pray courageously for others. And please Jesus, give me a confident, yet humble, boldness when I share my faith in you with others. I love you. Amen.

Be full of faith today!

DAY 1 : Power to Witness

Read: Acts 1:1-26

Think: Today is the first day of 100 Days of Faith in Action. As you read in Acts 1, remember, this is Jesus talking. Put yourself in the story. First, you are on the Mount of Olives as Jesus gives you an assignment to tell people everywhere about Him. Jesus reminds you that you will need help to be His effective witness. He promises to send the Holy Spirit to help you. He tells you what is going to happen: You will receive power to communicate to others who He is, that though He died on the cross for our sins, He is alive! After He gives you this assignment, He is taken up to heaven in a cloud! Wow. So you go and wait—about 120 of you who have been close to Jesus— just as He asked. You return to the house where you were staying and wait. What do you think you would be thinking and feeling while you were waiting?  How difficult is it for you to wait for God?

Act: Andy Stanley, pastor of Northpoint Church in Atlanta, and author of Visioneering, said, “Waiting time is not wasted time.” While the disciples were waiting, they were praying together.  How often do you pray with others?  Who are your prayer partners?  Enlist one or more prayer partners to join with you during the 100 Days of Faith in Action!

Pray: Dear Lord, I ask for the immediate outpouring of your Holy Spirit to be upon me today and over the next 100 days. Help me to pray with others. Show me who my prayer partners will be during the next 100 days. Help us to pray for your power to come into our lives. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Be full of faith today!
