Foundations of Faith

Whether you’ve recently said “yes” to Jesus or have been walking with Him for years, every follower of Christ needs a strong, unshakable foundation. Foundations of Faith is a 6-week mentorship journey designed to help you go deeper—clarifying what you believe, strengthening your walk with God, and equipping you to live it out with confidence. You won’t be doing it alone. You’ll be paired with a personal mentor from our church family who will walk alongside you, encourage you, and help answer your questions as you grow in faith.

Big Goals of Foundations of Faith Track: Over the next 6 weeks, this mentorship will help you:

  • Understand who Jesus is and what it means to follow Him.

  • Discover your new identity as a child of God.

  • Learn about spiritual growth, prayer, and reading the Bible.

  • Talk through next steps like water baptism, joining a small group, and getting involved

    at church.

  • Build a foundation that will help you stand strong in your faith for years to come.

What to expect: You’ll meet one-on-one with your mentor once a week for about an hour. You’ll both watch two videos ahead of time and read a few pages from a helpful booklet. Then, when you meet up, you’ll talk about what you’ve been learning, ask questions, and discover how to apply it to your life.

This isn’t a class—it’s a conversation. It's not about having all the right answers—it's about developing a transformative relationship with Jesus.

One-on-One 1-Hour Meet-Ups for 6 Weeks:  You’ll meet one-on-one with a mentor for just one hour a week to go through the foundations of faith. See the list below.

  • Ideally, the one-hour meet-up would occur face-to-face over coffee/tea, but could also be done over Zoom if necessary.

  • Each week includes two sermons to watch beforehand, and a thin booklet with 2-3 pages to read.

  • Your 1-hour meet-up is meant to be a time of check-in, connection, and Q&A.

  • The nice thing about a one-on-one mentorship is that it can be personalized to where you are at, addressing issues that are relevant to your stage of growth, and answering questions that are most pressing for you.

  •  It’s a time that is meant to be conversational.

Outline for your 1-hour meet-up:

  • Opening Prayer

  • Person Check-In

  • Booklet Check-In

  • Sermon Check-In

  • Closing Prayer

Note about the Booklet: New Life Guide: New Believer’s Handbook for the Christian Faith by Sarah Chalk

  • The booklet you will be using follows points 2-6 below, using the exact titles and points we have listed. This should simplify things and make it very easy to follow week-to-week.

  • It is a very short and easy read. It is not comprehensive and is meant for a brief introduction to the foundations of faith.

Note about the Videos: The sermons will carry the load of the teaching elements of this discipleship program. Sermons can be found in our Fountains of Faith YouTube Playlist—click here.

  •  Each week, there will be two assigned sermons to watch that will correspond to the day’s readings and topics covered.
o Those with a long commute can listen to the sermons as they drive.

  • You will likely need to schedule times in your week and set reminders for yourself to watch the sermons and jot down notes or questions that arise for you in the process.

o This is a link to download the sermon notes for each message and the outline of the Hour of Power.

o These notes will help you follow along with the sermon and dedicate more time toward highlighting key takeaways and noting any follow-up questions you may have.
